Lego therapy is a social development intervention which uses Lego activities to support children’s social interactions and communication within a small group setting. They learn language skills such as giving and listening to instructions as well as social skills such as sharing, taking turns and working collaboratively. During the session, 3 or 4 children take on different roles to build a Lego model.
The Engineer reads the instructions and communicates them with the group. He must tell the Supplier what pieces are needs and instruct the Builder on how to build the model.
The Supplier finds the collect Lego pieces and passes them to the Builder. He must listen carefully to the instructions given by the Engineer.
The Builder physically builds the model, he must carefully listen to instructions by the Engineer and retrieve pieces from the Supplier.
The Foreman makes sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing. They support the other roles in problem-solving when they meet a challenge.
