Our pupils lit up the school, dressed in bright, colourful outfits that perfectly captured the spirit of Holi.  

When it was time for parents to pick up their children, they were greeted with a delightful surprise! Watching our pupils spin ribbons and showcase their creativity added a magical touch to the end of a fun-filled day. Seeing the proud smiles on the faces of parents as they witnessed their children’s enthusiasm and joy was truly heartwarming. 

Events like these remind us how important it is to foster a sense of belonging and culture in our school environment. Through celebrations like Holi, we not only introduce children to diverse traditions but also create cherished memories that will stay with them for years to come. 

A big thank you to all the parents and staff who contributed to making this event such a success. We could not have done it without you! Your support and involvement help us continue to create enriching experiences for our pupils. We look forward to more celebrations that bring joy, learning, and unity to our school community! 

In the week leading up to the celebration, we were fortunate to welcome parents into our classrooms to teach the children phrases from their native languages. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn directly from members of our community and gain insight into different languages and traditions. One memorable phrase that stuck with many of the children was "Jashan Mubarak", which means "Happy Celebration" in Urdu—perfect for the joyful occasion! 

These sessions were more than just language lessons; they were moments of connection, where children asked questions, learnt about different customs, and gained a deeper appreciation for the rich cultural diversity around them. 

She shared insights into her writing journey, revealing the inspirations behind her books and characters. Michelle spoke about the importance of imagination, perseverance, and creativity in storytelling, leaving the students motivated to explore their own writing potential.

One of the highlights of the assembly was when Michelle read a short extract from her latest book, Twice Upon A Time. As she brought her characters to life with expressive reading, the students sat mesmerised, hanging onto every word. She also shared some behind-the-scenes stories about her writing process, from initial ideas to final publication, giving the children a deeper understanding of what it takes to be an author.

After the assembly, students had the wonderful opportunity to meet Michelle in person for a book signing. Michelle took the time to chat with each student, answering their questions and encouraging them to keep reading and writing.

The visit from Michelle Harrison was truly inspiring. Her words ignited a passion for storytelling in our students, many of whom left the event feeling inspired to write their own magical tales.

We are incredibly grateful to Michelle for taking the time to visit our school and share her love of literature with us. We look forward to welcoming more authors in the future and continuing to nurture a love for reading and writing in our students!

Our Nursery children had an incredible visit from Thames Valley police officers, who shared a fascinating insight into their roles and responsibilities. They read a wonderful story called PC Ben, which helped the children understand what police officers do to keep us safe. The officers then spoke about the different pieces of equipment on their vests, sparking curiosity and plenty of questions from our young learners! The most exciting part of the visit was stepping outside to see the police car up close. The children were thrilled to sit inside and listen to the sirens. It was an unforgettable experience! 

Meanwhile, Reception had an important and interactive session all about dental hygiene. A team of dental professionals from Wexham Dental Surgery visited to talk to the children about how to keep their teeth clean and healthy. They learnt the importance of brushing twice a day, eating tooth-friendly foods, and visiting the dentist regularly. The session was both fun and educational, helping the children understand how to take care of their smiles from an early age. 

Both of these visits provided valuable real-life experiences, reinforcing key aspects of our curriculum in an engaging and memorable way. Learning through interaction and exploration is at the heart of our early years provision, and we are so proud to offer our children these enriching opportunities.
